Ice Cream Van Hire In Kent – Markes Ices Give The Facts About Hygiene – HACCP and Hygiene Certificates

Ice Cream Van Hire In Kent – Markes Ices Give The Facts About Hygiene – HACCP and Hygiene Certificates

5 STAR HYGIENE AWARD SCHEME (Scores on the doors). The Facts.
When adding to Markes Ices ice cream van fleet with the purchase of a new ice cream van the first port of call is to telephone the Council Food standards department responsible for environmental health to invite an inspection.Once inspected the company then can apply to add this vehicle to their trading licence.During the inspection all areas of food preparation are examined along with company practices and storage. Markes Ices once again receive the Very Best possible review a catering company can get which is an excellent reputation with their local authority and be given the maximum time between scheduled Hygiene inspections which is two years, this does not mean no inspections in between as these can be done at any time, any place without notification and HERE’S THE POINT ABOUT SCORES ON THE DOORS. Markes Ices agree with their Local Authority there is very little point to an scheme where a set time for inspection is carried out by appointment and a one off visit and that is that, really anyone can be at their best on a given day, this does not reflect the company’s on going policy to health and hygiene or good practices, far better to know inspections are on going can be at any time or place which make for a companies health and hygiene practices to be on going and a constant.
HACCP

What is HACCP?

As part of routine inspections, the enforcement officer will check that the business has an appropriate HACCP-based food safety management system in place.
HACCP stands for ‘Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point’. It is an internationally recognised and recommended system of food safety management. It focuses on identifying the ‘critical points’ in a process where food safety problems (or ‘hazards’) could arise and putting steps in place to prevent things going wrong. This is sometimes referred to as ‘controlling hazards’. Keeping records is also an important part of HACCP systems. Markes Ices HACCP documentation can always be inspected by their customers and clients.
During the inspection of Markes Ices New Ice cream Van addition the company was very pleased to be asked to show their hygiene certificates for all staff, and for the place of registration to be noted, this is very good practice as the certificate registration will have to be a valid training point which will eliminate the online  certificates gained by some companies. The Hygiene certificates also have to be renewed every three years so a date check is always worth a look by customers.

Allergy Alerts

Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk.

Food allergen labelling

People with some food allergies, particularly peanut allergy, have to be extremely careful what they eat. Food labelling is very important to these people because the consequences of eating the food they are allergic to could be very serious.

Food intolerance and allergy research

Agency research work that investigates food intolerance and allergy.

Guidance for food businesses on allergy and intolerance

This guidance is designed to help food businesses provide information to customers who need to avoid certain ingredients because of an allergy. It includes general advice and information on allergy and intolerance and specific voluntary best practice guidance on pre-packed foods, loose foods and the food labelling rules.

Peanuts during pregnancy, breastfeeding and early childhood

In August 2009, the Government revised its advice to consumers about eating peanuts during pregnancy, breastfeeding and the first few years of life, in relation to the risk of developing peanut allergy in childhood.
As an Allergy aware company Markes Ices joined the Government scheme where the company is notified immediately when an allergy warning has been put in place on products from any source, any company or supplier.Markes Ices spokesperson Mark said
“The information is so immediate we probably know about these allergy awareness warnings long before this information drip feeds to local supermarkets shelves.”
